BLM Roundup at Desatoya Ends with 4 dead and 429 Captured

The BLM wild horse roundup in Nevada's Desatoya Mountains has ended with 4 horses killed and 429 captured. From August 16 - August 22, 2012, the BLM used helicopters to stampede horses out of the mountains and into trap pens. Among the dead were:

  • A bay yearling who broke his leg -"while running into the trap" and was shot by the BLM;
  • A 7-year old "wet" mare who broke her neck and died after she "bolted back out of the trailer, hit the gate in the loading area breaking her neck," orphaning her foal.
  • A foal who "ate too much too quickly and developed colic."
  • A foal who was euthanized by BLM due to poor body condition.

Is this the foal who was orphaned when his mother broke her neck while being loaded into a BLM trailer?
